Hereford College of Arts Masterclass with Thomas Randall-Page

During the Spring term, every Saturday Club experiences a Masterclass given by a leading creative professional, either in their studio or at the college/university. Past masterclasses have been given by Turner Prize winners Anthony Gormley and Jeremy Deller and Olympic Cauldron designer Thomas Heatherwick.

This year, we lined up a whole host of inspirational guest tutors, including Pali Palavathanan and the design team at Templo; Harriet Vine MBE, co-founder & artistic director of Tatty Devine; Ceramicist Michael Eden; Paul Priestman of transport design specialists, Priestman Goode; Architects from the Cullinan Studio; Production designers from the English National Opera’s Baylis Akhnaten project.

And the award goes to...

Awards season is upon us but you can forget the Oscars and the Golden Globes. The awards that we’re most excited about are dedicated to celebrating the employers and educators who are helping to develop skills for the UK’s next creative generation. As well as categories for mentors in design, music, craft, jewellery, cultural heritage and theatre, the Creative & Cultural Skills Awards include the Apprentice and Intern of the Year Awards for outstanding young people forging their way in the sector.

New Designers: One Year On

The UK’s largest annual showcase for design graduates, New Designers, includes One Year On, an exclusive, curated exhibition for designers with an entrepreneurial flair in their first year of business. There is no application fee to apply, and those who are chosen to exhibit are selected by a panel of industry specialists on the strength and ambition demonstrated through their work.

Previous One Year On exhibitors include Paul Cummins, the ceramics designers behind ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’, the ceramic Poppy memorial at the Tower of London, and jeweller Imogen Belfield.
