The Writing and Talking Saturday Club at Nottingham Trent University is a great opportunity to take part in an exciting new programme hosted by the School of Arts and Humanities.
The Club is the perfect space for you to experiment with words and express yourself. You’ll have the opportunity to write about things you might not have the chance to explore at school. You don’t need any previous experience, and there are no exams! You’ll get to develop your creative writing and communication skills, meet like-minded people and make new friends. As well as having lots of fun, Writing&Talking Saturday Club looks great on your CV if you decide to apply to college or university later on.
With a focus on exploration, we’ll use lots of different things for inspiration, such as popular culture, films, TV, food, music, art, and many more! We’ll try out lots of different types of writing, like blogs and vlogs, writing for podcasts, reviews, novels and stories, poetry and the spoken word, to name a few. Together we’ll explore themes that matter to you such as race, class, gender, home, belonging, history, the future and global issues. These are just some examples, and we’re keen to hear about what you’re interested in so we can make the programme as relevant as possible.
Club members also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals and the Summer Show, where all Club members exhibit their work in a public exhibition – all for free!
