Gitta Gschwendtner, furniture designer

  • Victoria and Albert Museum

Furniture designer Gitta Gschwendtner took the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Club members to look at her piece, Chair Bench, in the V&A’s new Furniture Gallery. In this work, Gitta combined mismatched chair backs and legs, all based on historical pieces in the museum’s collection.

The Club members drew inspiration from this and other chairs in the gallery to create their own individual cardboard chair back. These were assembled to make a new piece, which is displayed at the Summer Show.
