A person has a disability if they have a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day-today activities.

“Long-term” means the impairment has lasted, or is expected to last, for at least 12 months. (Equality Act 2010).

This can mean that you might have struggles with mental health, learning needs or long-term health conditions.
