The London Visit

The London Visit is the first national event of the Saturday Club year, when members from across the country travel to the capital for a special welcome day. The trip brings Club members together for the first time, and gives them the chance to meet other young people from all over the UK and to see themselves as part of a national network. They also hear from our trustees and partners about the thinking behind the programme and learn about careers in relevant industries.

All my friends at school spoke about visiting London but I had never been, so I was excited when we came down for the London Visit."

Club members each submit a self-portrait, all of which then form a pop-up exhibition.  After viewing their own and their counterparts’ work, members are welcomed to the club before going on specially arranged tours of London’s leading museums and galleries.

Going to the Design Museum really gave them new insights into the world of design ... I think it has opened their eyes, that design can be a career and have a positive impact on the world.”

The latest London Visit in November 2017 was kindly hosted by University of the Arts London at their Central Saint Martins campus in Kings Cross. The scale of the building’s vast atrium meant that hundreds of members at a time could take part in a collaborative activity.
