Over the past 14 years, the National Saturday Club has benefitted from the expertise, vision and commitment of an incredible network of individuals and organisations. This support has enabled the programme to flourish and to provide more than 12,000 young people nationwide with access to transformational opportunities and experiences.
In March 2023, the Saturday Club Trust announces the establishment of an Advisory Board. This new initiative aims to bring together individuals who are committed to the founding ethos and mission of the National Saturday Club and to harness the expertise of our wider network to the benefit of the organisation and the programme as a whole.
The Advisory Board will provide a supporting role to governance bodies including the Board of Trustees, Youth Board and Tutors Advisory Group. Across these groups, the members and representatives bring their insights and experiences to the heart of the National Saturday Club’s governance ensuring that the development of the organisation is informed by the lived experience and insights of the communities it serves.
Advisory Board members will act as ambassadors and advocates for the Trust. They will be informed of plans and developments and will provide advice and guidance relevant to their field of expertise. Over time, the Saturday Club Trust will invite new members to join the Advisory Board in alignment with the organisation’s growth and development.
Sir Nigel Carrington, Chair of the Saturday Club Trust Board of Trustees, commented: ‘The Saturday Club Trust is growing quickly across the country, providing unique opportunities for young people to experience inspirational teaching which goes beyond the often restricted school curriculum. Our success and expansion relies heavily on the advice of these immensely generous and talented individuals who are passionately committed to our work. We are particularly grateful to the members of our Advisory Board for all that they do for us.’
The group will initially comprise: Caroline Hargrove CBE, Dr David Parker, Patrick Reid, Julius Weinberg, Cecilia Weckström and David Weil.
We are so grateful for the commitment and energy that all of these individuals have brought to the National Saturday Club and hugely value the contribution they continue to make as we grow to reach even more young people nationwide.
