1 October, 2024

The Saturday Club Trust warmly welcomes Anne Morrison to the Board of Trustees. Anne is a media consultant and executive producer, with a distinguished career in factual programme making and a long-term commitment to diversity and talent development.

Anne is currently conducting a review, jointly with Chris Banatvala, of the BBC’s portrayal and representation in its output, at the request of the BBC Board. She was previously CEO and Creative Director at the independent production company, Nevision, where she won BAFTA, RTS and Grierson Awards. She was a trustee of BAFTA for seven years and the second woman to be its Chair.

Anne has led a range of factual television departments at BBC Television, including Documentaries, Leisure, Factual Entertainment and Live Events, and was responsible for many award-winning programmes, with a team of over 1000 programme makers across the UK and in the US. She was later responsible for planning and overseeing the significant growth of BBC network television from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In 2009, she was appointed as the first Director of the BBC Academy, leading for five years the largest broadcast training and development in the UK.

She is Chair of Escape Studios, Chair of the Commercial Committee at Charleston Trust, a Director of the events business Clio, an executive coach and an international keynote speaker on issues such as diversity, change management and talent development.

On her appointment to the Board of Trustees, Anne said:
I am delighted to be joining the Board of the National Saturday Club, an organisation for which I have so much admiration. The Clubs bring inspiration and aspiration to young people at a crucial stage and enable them to explore their creativity. With my commitment to developing new talent and background in the screen industries, I look forward to being able to contribute to the future of this important organisation and see it go from strength to strength.”

Chair of the Board, Sir Nigel Carrington commented:

“Anne brings a wealth of experience to our Board, not only across the full range of creative education but in her own very distinguished career as a leader in the screen industries. We are particularly delighted that Anne joins the Board as we continue to see the expansion of Film&Screen Clubs across the UK, thanks to the amazing support of the BFI awarding National Lottery funding. We are hoping to welcome 600 Club members to the Film&Screen Clubs this year, an increase of over 250% from the 2023-24 programme. Anne’s deep expertise will be invaluable as the National Saturday Club expands across all four nations.”
