Craft&Making for a Sustainable Future
The Heritage & Rural Skills Centres Saturday Club offers 13–16-year-olds a unique opportunity to explore traditional craft and making techniques rooted in the UK’s rich heritage. Delivered by the National Trust in partnership with crafts professionals including Bishopsland Education Trust, the Club introduces young people to hands-on skills that have been passed down through generations.
More than just learning how things were done in the past, our Club will explore how these skills can support a greener, more sustainable future. Through fun, practical sessions, Club members will gain an understanding of how rural crafts contribute to environmental sustainability, promote biodiversity, and help to regenerate nature – skills increasingly vital in today’s world.
Club members take part in weekly Saturday sessions throughout the academic year. This will include exciting visits to heritage sites, rural environments, and practical work which will contribute to the National Saturday Club Summer Show.
The Club is free to attend and is a welcoming space for young people to discover new talents, build confidence and connect with our natural world. If you are passionate about the environment, curious about heritage or simply love making things by hand, this is a chance to gain real world skills while helping to shape a more sustainable future.
