Chain Bridge Forge
Chain Bridge Forge is a traditional Blacksmith workshop dating back to the late 1700’s. At our Craft&Making Saturday Club, you will get to know a traditional perspective of Blacksmithing. Each session is designed around a technique and results in the manufacture of an item.
Key skills that will be taught include: bending, punching, drawing, upsetting, shrinking, hitting, quenching, cutting, shaping, tapering, flattening, dishing, twisting, welding MIG & TIG, plasma cutting. Working with steel and the hearth (fire to heat the metal, reaches 1,400 celsius). Club members will use specialist equipment including anvils, hammers, tongs, saws, grinders.
Protective clothing will be provided and a full health and safety induction.
Club members also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals and the Summer Show, where Saturday Clubs nationwide exhibit their work in a public exhibition – all for free!
