Midlands Arts Centre, Birmingham
At the Midlands Arts Centre’s Film & Screen Saturday Club, young people explore a wide range of filmmaking practices while developing digital media skills. The club is led by a local filmmaker who delivers an inspiring program of creative activities. Gain hands-on practical experience, creative and teamworking skills in a friendly informal environment.
Projects will include creating short self-portrait films and a group film to be displayed in our Community Gallery.
This year we are excited take inspiration from myths, heroes and legends, connecting to a major exhibition at MAC in Summer 2027. Taking the filmmaking concept of ‘The Hero’s Journey’ as a starting point, club members will explore this popular narrative concept through their own work.
Club members also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals and the Summer Show, where Saturday Clubs nationwide exhibit their work in a public exhibition – all for free!
With a dedicated Media Studio and Cinema on site MAC is perfectly placed to kick start your filmmaking journey!
At the heart of MAC is a focus on accessibility and inclusion. We are committed to making our spaces welcoming and accessible. Our building has wheelchair access to all rooms and floors. We are able to provide a range of resources to support access, though cannot provide one-to-one support.
MAC would like to thank players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their invaluable support, which allows us to deliver programming for young people.
