The Margate School
The Art & Design Saturday Club at The Margate School of Art is free for teens aged 13-16, offering creative art sessions taught by local artists of diverse practices. Members explore a wide range of creative practices – from drawing, painting and mark-making to sculpting, collage, and audiovisual work. The club fosters collaboration, experimentation, and creative confidence, empowering each member to develop their own artistic interests and forge a path into further study and future careers.
Club members also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals and the Summer Show, where Saturday Clubs nationwide exhibit their work in a public exhibition – all for free!
We actively recruit young people from deprived areas of Margate and Thanet, prioritising widening access for those who may otherwise have limited exposure to arts education and creative opportunities. We are also committed to being as inclusive as possible during recruitment. Where a young person has moderate additional needs, we will explore what reasonable adjustments can be made to support their participation, whether through volunteer support or sourcing 1:1 support where necessary. Sessions are taught on the 1st floor and are currently accessible vie stairs.
