Capital City College Group and Arts Outburst Thurrock Film&Screen Saturday Clubs took part in a Masterclass at Warner Bros. Studios, exploring film and TV production with the CrewHQ team.
The session began at CrewHQ Studios, where Club members were introduced to a vast range of careers in the industry. They learnt about entry routes, including traineeships such as those offered by Warner Bros.
They then explored different elements of costume design, make-up, and sound production. In make-up, they examined prosthetics that were used in the Harry Potter films, amazed by the lifelike textures. In costume design, they learned fabric distressing techniques that are used for action scenes before trying it themselves with scissors, chalk, and fake blood. The sound session focused on foley artistry, where Club members had the opportunity to recreate the sound effects used in Harry Potter scenes using props like paper bags and bells.
After an inspiring day of learning new skills, the group toured the Harry Potter Studio, gaining further insight into the magic of filmmaking.
