The Fashion&Business and Art&Design Saturday Clubs at Falmouth University visited Finisterre for a Masterclass on sustainable fashion design.
The Finisterre team introduced themselves, talking through their backgrounds before joining the company and their current roles. An introductory film outlined the brand’s ethos ‘People, Product, and Environment’, with a strong focus on recycling and environmental awareness.
Club members were then taken on a tour of the space, walking through the boardroom, design room and the tech and IT area before heading to the visual merchandising team’s mock-up shop front. From there, the focus shifted to creation. Club members built mood boards based on colours and textures that interested them, using paper, fabric, collage and drawing to explore mood.
Once their mood boards were complete, Club members developed a clothing design based on the work they’d created, sketching their ideas on paper. The session wrapped up with a feedback session, where everyone shared their designs and discussed how they visualised the clothing coming to life.
