London Metropolitan University and National Army Museum Society&Change Saturday Clubs visited London Zoo for a Masterclass in designing an eco-campaign.
The day began with a presentation from the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), introducing their mission and the impact of human activity on wildlife. Club members explored past ZSL campaigns before being challenged to design their own behaviour change initiative—a campaign aimed at encouraging people to take action to protect an ecosystem.
Using research packs, they identified key threats to animal habitats and considered actions individuals could take to help. As they toured the zoo, they observed seven highlighted species and reflected on how their campaigns could inspire change.
With guidance on effective messaging and the power of language, Club members developed one-minute campaign pitches. They researched their topics, designed posters, and created compelling calls to action.
The session concluded with each group presenting their campaign, covering issues such as plastic waste in oceans and reducing beef consumption in schools.
