Club members from the Art&Design and Fashion&Business Clubs at Falmouth University and Arts University Plymouth attended an incredible Speedo Masterclass hosted by Pentland Brands. The session began with an introduction from the Pentland Brand’s team who shared their career journeys.
Club members then watched a recorded video from Speedo’s Chief Creative, who discussed the inspiration behind their newly designed swimsuits. Influenced by Hawaii and the term Mahuk – meaning “towards the mountain”, the theme provided design context for the design task ahead.
The Masterclass focused on creating a Hawaii-inspired swimsuit pattern. Using bright colours like yellow, orange, pink, and deep blue, Club members had 45 minutes to bring their ideas to life on paper-covered walls. They collaborated, enhancing each other’s designs to create a vibrant collection.
Finally, designs were transferred onto swimsuit templates and refined with markers and paint. The final designs were proudly displayed for group voting, with the Pentland Brand’s team offering feedback.
