Placemaking Masterclass, Dallas-Pierce-Quintero & British Land

  • Arts University Plymouth

This year, the Plymouth College of Art Club took to the streets of Plymouth to take part in the Placemaking Masterclasses with British Land.

Led by expert architect Juliet Quintero from Dallas-Peirce-Quintero, the club members were introduced to the principles placemaking. They spent the first session observing how public space was designed and used in Drake Circus shopping centre and the surrounding area. They then came up with ingenious interventions to make the area better.

From benches with added periscopes to bins with basketball hoops the interventions they created were fantastic. After sketching and modelling their ideas they set about building scale models in fabric and cardboard.
