Richard Sorger told the Club members of The Cleveland College of Arts that his love of drawing superheroes led him to follow a career in fashion design. His own work is characterised by heavy embellishment and he uses unusual sources – animal skeletons and molecular structures – for pattern and decoration.
Richard encouraged the Club members to look for inspiration from wide-ranging and unexpected sources. He challenged the group to design collections using nineteenth-century botanical and zoological illustrations, rotating and cropping images to achieve more dramatic results.
