North West Regional College’s Art&Design Club were given an insightful Masterclass by jeweller Samantha Moore, where the Club members were tasked with producing copper bowls. They began by drawing out pattern ideas before creating stencils of them on paper. These were then used to impress the patterns onto copper discs which in turn were beaten or raised into bowls.
The young members were then taught about how their patterns could be used for anything from ceramic to fabric to wallpaper to plates and then how to create surface pattern in metal. They had a thoroughly fun time learning, with the license to use the rolling mills and blowtorches being the stand-out features of the Masterclass.
