For the first time, the National Saturday Club partnered with Tate Exchange to present two Masterclasses led by design collective Scale Rule. The multi-disciplinary sessions were a great success bringing together nine National Saturday Clubs over two weekends at Tate Modern, London.
Members had the chance to learn in a world-renowned space led by leading architects, engineers and designers. The groups responded to selected artworks from Tate’s permanent collection by creating sculptures from a toolkit of paper straws and paperclips. Employing spatial and structural planning techniques, the groups worked together with each other and Scale Rule, collaborating and negotiating to create final pieces that demonstrated the skills they had developed over the course of the Masterclass.
