Soofiya delivered a zine-making Masterclass for the Goldsmiths University Writing&Talking Club, introducing what zines are, displaying some of her work and then teaching them how to make their own.
Using just an A4 sheet of paper, each Club member created an individual zine which was presented in a mini-exhibition at the end of the session. The Club’s tutor commented ‘Club members immersed themselves in the workshop. They were encouraged to articulate their own, unique experiences through the form of zine-making. Not a single zine was the same – demonstrating the power this form has. It was life-affirming environment to see these young people thrive in.’
One of the members also said that they enjoyed the session because ‘it was interesting and new’.
