The Art&Design Saturday Club at Gainsborough’s House Sudbury had a Masterclass with printmaker Zoe Ansari, exploring linocut printing.
The session started with an introduction from Zoe Ansari, a nature-inspired printmaker, who moved Club members through the space to draw from objects and artworks on display, including textiles, sculptures, musical instruments, cuckoo clocks and 15th-century doors and windows.
Club members then created thumbnail sketches from their drawings and transferred them onto lino using tracing paper. Zoe provided guidance as everyone worked at different paces. Once the designs were transferred, lino cutting began.
After a break, paint trays were prepared and Club members began testing their prints. They grew in confidence throughout, experimenting with colour mixing and producing prints to share with each other.
