National Army Museum

Join us at the National Army Museum, where this year we will be contemplating the question: What is the role of museums in displaying conflict?

This Society&Change Saturday Club will focus on the role that museums play in displaying conflict and how this shapes attitudes towards war. Club members will be introduced to a range of artefacts, archival materials and artwork and will consider how these can be displayed to the public to tell a range of stories and experiences of conflict.

Club members will have the opportunity to create their own artistic responses to the source materials which will cover the themes of victory, defeat, sacrifice, remembrance and forgetting. They will be able to reflect on contemporary conflicts and how they might be portrayed in museums in the future.

Club members will also take part in free national events including the Summer Show, where Saturday Clubs nationwide exhibit their work in a public exhibition, and Masterclasses with leading industry professionals.
