In a very special Masterclass led by alumni of the National Saturday Club Chloe and Abigail Baldwin, the University of Leeds Art&Design Club created posters to represent their own personal brand.
Chloe and Abigail took part in the Yorkshire Coast College Art&Design Club in 2010/11, graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 with degrees in Graphic and Communication Design and have since founded communications studio Buttercrumble. With their connection to both the National Saturday Club and the university, the Leeds Art&Design Club was the perfect place for them to lead their first Masterclass.
In a focused and creative workshop, Chloe and Abigail introduced the Club to the theory of branding and asked them to consider how they might represent their own identity as a ‘brand’. The Club members began the process by developing a personal mascot and then developed these into mixed-media graphic posters over the course of the session with some fantastic outcomes.
The Masterclass was a landmark moment for the National Saturday Club and Chloe and Abigail’s story exemplifies the impact that taking part in the Club can have on young people’s paths into the creative industries.
