In a zine-making Masterclass with Di’mond Qai Sharma-Joseph, Art&Design Club members from MIMA, Teesside University, explored topics of interest and how to craft a narrative around them.
To start the Masterclass, Di’mond and illustrator Robert Sae-Heng asked Club members to produce five-minute drawings capturing how they experienced their previous day. During the activity, Di’mond and Robert reminded Club members of how to manage time when pursuing creative projects. Then, using an element of their five-minute drawing to inspire their work (which included football, music, the dentist, TV, cooking and Iranian politics), Club members began folding and creating zines from a single piece of paper.
Using collage, coloured pens, paper weaving, illustration and creative writing, Club members brought their zines to life.
