In a Masterclass with designer and textile maker Ella Doran, Fashion&Business and Art&Design Club members from City of Oxford College used wood carvings and prints to create a collaborative peace flag.
Members discussed the emotional impact and connotations of different symbols and shapes, and the effect different colours may have in relation to colour psychology. Taking inspiration from the outcomes of their discussion, members collaborated on what the final flag would look like.
Split into two groups, Fashion&Business Club members utilised their textile skills to sew together a flag, while the Art&Design Club focused on woodwork, creating carved wooden blocks to print onto the flag.
By taking inspiration from each other, music, East African art and mixed media, Club members created a beautiful flag symbolising peace and unity.
