The Art&Design and Science&Engineering Saturday Clubs at Higher Horizons Keele University and Staffordshire University had a Masterclass with Jason Bruges Studio, exploring 3D sculptural construction.
To begin the session, the team from Jason Bruges Studio delivered a presentation about their professional careers and the varied, multidisciplinary work the studio produces.
Following the introduction, the group was briefed on their main challenge: creating 3D sculptural designs inspired by Stoke-on-Trent using paper and LED lights. Club members split into groups to collaboratively build their pieces. A key constraint of the brief was to construct the forms without the use of adhesives, encouraging creative problem-solving and innovative material manipulation.
To conclude the day, each group presented their final creations to the rest of the class. The Jason Bruges Studio team provided constructive feedback and celebrated the impressive collaborative work produced by the Club members.
