In an “amazing” and “inspiring” Masterclass with Katie Greenyer, the creative director of Pentland, members of Bolton’s Art&Design Saturday Club were challenged to design prints that commemorated 200 years of Mitre footballs.
Using markers to draw on a floor covered with paper, the young people were given 10 minutes to illustrate 20 football stories that Katie read out to them. They rotated so that they added to each other’s drawings, and created about 800 designs, from which Katie made a careful selection of illustrations. Finally, they used a special cutter to cut out football- shaped panels, which Katie planned to have made up into unique footballs, as part of Mitre’s anniversary celebrations.
