To start his Masterclass with Nottingham Trent University’s Art&Design Club, illustrator Tim Bradford showed the group his website and samples of his work in both print and animation, and talked about his background and training. He then set the Club a quick warm-up: to draw a self-portrait on a balloon, which everyone enjoyed.
The main task of the day was to create a character for animation, choosing from the wide variety of drawing media on offer. The young people worked separately and were quiet and focused; Tim spent time talking to each of them, advising and helping. He was hugely impressed by their work, saying: “The Club members were great and I’m amazed at what they managed to achieve in a short time. Hopefully there are a few budding illustrators there.”
