Global Academy and London College of Communication, UAL Film&Screen Saturday Clubs took part in a Masterclass with YouTube, exploring content creation.
The session began with introductions from the YouTube team, who shared insights into their job roles and experiences. They discussed diversity and representation in content, staying motivated after setbacks, and identifying personal strengths. Katja, Senior Strategic Partner Manager at YouTube, led a deep dive into content strategy, covering niche selection, video formats, monetisation techniques, and the importance of branding, thumbnails, and consistency.
Club members were then challenged to develop their own YouTube content ideas, considering what excites them and how they could engage an audience. Ideas ranged from gaming tutorials to book recommendations.
At the end of the session, Club members presented their ideas to the Youtube team where they received helpful feedback. A prize was awarded to the best concept, which focused on increasing youth access to politics.
