Film&Screen Saturday Club members at Reading College, Banbury and Bicester College and the University of Northampton took part in a Masterclass with producer and director Karen Chambers, exploring identity and storytelling through documentary filmmaking.

Karen introduced her work, sharing examples including a trailer, past documentaries and a near one-take interview with Lewis Hamilton. After answering insightful questions about her career and freelance practice, she tasked Club members to create a one-take ‘video portrait’ interview of a group member, showcasing what made them inspirational.

They worked together to develop strong interview questions, progressing from practical details to deeper, reflective topics. They then selected production roles—director, producer, camera, or sound—and filmed their one-take interviews.

The session concluded with a screening of their work, followed by constructive feedback from Karen and the group.
