In a Sadie Williams x the Design Museum Masterclass, supported by the British Fashion Council, Fashion&Business Saturday Club members from Istituto Marangoni and Central Saint Martins delved into a pattern and texture workshop led by London-based fashion designer Sadie Williams.
To kick-off the Masterclass, Sadie introduced herself and her works, including her hand-worked crafts, image-making, print and textile projects. Guiding the Clubs through her practise and exploring topics including sustainability, Saturday Club members were able to find inspiration and brainstorm for their own fabric swatches and badge designs.
For additional creative motivation, the group embarked on a journey through groundbreaking pop-culture fashion history at the ‘REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion’ exhibition. Displays featured iconic pieces including Björk’s 2001 Oscars dress, Harry Styles’ Steven Stokey-Daley outfit, and the inflatable HARRI latex suit worn by Sam Smith at the BRIT Awards.
After exploring the exhibition, Club members continued their workshop with Sadie. Considering pattern, colour, and shape, the group created heat-pressed fabric swatches and badges ready to adorn their bags and outfits with a touch of their newfound design magic.
